Epigenetics: We Are Not Victims Of Our Genetics But Masters Of It!

Do you know what epigenetics is? Do you ever receive compliments that you look just like your mother? Or that you have your father’s feet, hands, and his sense of humor? Or comments that how your arthritic or cardiovascular problem is because of your family’s health history?

If you did, then genetics are the reasons why you receive such comments. Ever since a person is born, the most common comments people pass at them are about their genetic expressions. The world recognized the concept of DNA some sixty-five years ago.

That is exactly when we discovered that some part of us goes down through generations. But what happened is that we absorbed the concept of DNA so widely that we started to hold it entirely responsible for the person we are. The science of epigenetics tells us the truth.

What exactly is Epigenetics?

Epigenetics is a subject that teaches us how we have complete power to control our genetic expressions. The science of epigenetics squashes the fact that we are victims of our DNA and that whatever problems, regarding health and vitality we suffer, are due to our inherited genes.

In this article, we will tell you how you need not succumb to your genetics but rather rule over them like masters.

How the DNA Problem is happening

DNA has continued to rule our beliefs and minds since its discovery, so much so that we now are collective victims of it. Thanks to epigenetics, it is finally time to correct the misbegotten mindset.

For years we have believed that due to DNA, changing our genetic expressions with the help of environmental inputs was not possible. The fact is that our DNAs consist of multiple chemical tags, which we refer to as epigenomes.

Due to these tags, some of our genes exist as upturned, downturned, off, or on. If we only consider this fact very closely, we will realize that we are not the product of our DNAs. We are powerful and dynamic beings individually and how we have turned out is definitely not because of our inherent genes.

Another example of the problems that have arisen associated with genes is that people believe they are sick with certain illnesses because of their family genes. You will hear many acquaintances saying how they’ve got Dementia or lungs cancer etc. because their mom had it.

The truth is that genes are responsible for only one percent of the sicknesses people may suffer. Therefore, there is no need to give DNA an unwarranted level of authority in your life.

Victims or Masters? The Fine Difference

The problem of DNA lies in the stories and beliefs that have spun around us for since long. Take the example of a baby elephant. In Indian traditions, it is customary to tie a baby elephant’s leg to an unshakeable post with a rope to teach it to stay still.

This practice continues till the baby elephant grows into an adult, at a height of 12 feet. After that, the owner of the animal only has to tie a rope around the adult elephant’s leg to remind it to resign itself to immobility once more, like it’s used to since birth.

This is the same problematic approach that has disempowered us and thwarted our ability to freely express our individuality and abilities. We too have become victims of faulty programming that put misconceptions and beliefs into our subconscious minds.

Now because of that early programming, we continue living the rest of our lives believing that our health, vitality, sicknesses, and healing are entirely dependent upon our genes. We continue powerless through life, not believing that we are masters not victims in reality.
